About
Already have the connection on the roof? Put it to use.
The AgriStag NAV-372 Port to StarFire Adaptor Harness allows the NAV-372 receiver to be removed and replaced with a John Deere StarFire receiver, using the existing NAV-372 connection already fitted to the roof of the machine.
Rather than adding another receiver connection or routing additional harnessing through the machine, the adaptor connects the StarFire into the existing 12 pin Deutsch receptacle NAV-372 roof connection and places the receiver onto the implement BUS.
This allows GPS position and speed information from the StarFire receiver to be utilised by compatible John Deere equipment and precision ag systems.
The harness was originally developed for a customer with a New Holland CR8.90 who was fitting SolSteer and wanted to simplify the existing harnessing on the machine. By replacing the NAV-372 with StarFire, the receiver could provide the positioning data required for the new steering setup while making use of the existing roof connection.
But its usefulness isn't limited to that particular setup.
It can also provide the GPS information required by John Deere implements, such as a 1910 Air Cart, or be used as part of a SolSteer installation where StarFire positioning data is required to steer the CNH machine.
In simple terms, the NAV-372 comes off, the StarFire goes in its place, and the existing roof connection does the work.
WHAT DOES IT ENABLE?
Depending on the equipment being used, fitting a StarFire receiver through this adaptor can provide GPS positioning and speed information for applications including:
SolSteer steering systems
John Deere implements requiring GPS speed
Other compatible precision ag equipment requiring StarFire positioning data
For SolSteer applications, the resulting system can support machines using either a CAN steering valve or Steer-by-Wire controller, subject to the requirements of the wider steering system.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
AgriStag NAV-372 Port to StarFire Adaptor Harness
Connection to the machine's existing NAV-372 roof connection
StarFire receiver connection
StarFire receiver and other whole goods are not included.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does the NAV-372 stay fitted?
No. This harness is designed to replace the NAV-372 with a StarFire receiver. The NAV-372 is removed and the adaptor makes use of its existing roof connection to connect the StarFire receiver to the machine.
Which StarFire receivers can I use?
The harness is compatible with John Deere StarFire 3000 and newer receivers.
Is this only for SolSteer?
No. The harness was originally developed as part of a SolSteer installation, but its job is simply to allow a StarFire receiver to replace the NAV-372 and provide its GPS information through the implement BUS. That means it can also be useful where compatible John Deere equipment requires GPS position or speed information, such as a 1910 Air Cart.
Can it be used for steering?
Yes, when used as part of a compatible steering system. For example, in a SolSteer installation the StarFire receiver provides the GPS positioning data required by the steering system. SolSteer can be used with machines employing either a CAN steering valve or Steer-by-Wire controller, subject to the compatibility and requirements of the complete SolSteer system.
Why not just add another StarFire harness?
If the machine is already equipped for a NAV-372, the roof connection is already there.
This adaptor allows that existing connection to be repurposed for the StarFire receiver rather than adding another receiver connection and routing unnecessary additional harnessing through the machine.
Is this only compatible with the CR8.90?
No. The harness was originally developed around a New Holland CR8.90, but it can be used with other machines fitted with a NAV-372 where the relevant connection and system architecture are present. If you're unsure about your machine, send us the model and year with your enquiry and we can confirm suitability.
Do I need another AgriStag harness to make this work?
No. This adaptor works as a standalone harness for replacing the NAV-372 with the StarFire receiver. Any additional equipment required for the application itself, such as a SolSteer system or John Deere implement, is separate.
Compatibility
Designed for machines currently fitted with a NAV-372 receiver where the NAV-372 is being removed and replaced with a John Deere StarFire receiver.
Compatible with:
- StarFire 3000 and newer receivers
- Machines fitted with the applicable NAV-372 roof connection
- Applications requiring StarFire GPS position and speed information via the implement BUS
- SolSteer applications using a CAN steering valve or Steer-by-Wire controller, subject to the requirements of the complete steering system
The harness was originally developed on a New Holland CR8.90, but is not limited to that machine. If you're unsure whether your existing NAV-372 setup is suitable, send us your machine details with your enquiry and we'll confirm compatibility before quoting.
Fitment & Routing
The NAV-372 is removed and the adaptor connects into the existing NAV-372 receptacle connection in the roof. The StarFire receiver then connects through the adaptor, placing it onto the implement BUS and allowing its GPS position and speed information to be used by compatible equipment. The design makes use of the machine's existing receiver connection, avoiding the need to install and route a separate StarFire receiver harness through the machine.
